Parramatta Police Station

Parramatta, NSW

The new contemporary Parramatta Police Station replaced the existing 1970s police station on the site and will be home to ~200 NSW Police staff members.

The lighting design was conceived to express both civic presence and human-scale warmth. The façade is articulated through carefully integrated vertical luminaires that accentuate the rhythm and materiality of the architecture, creating a calm yet authoritative nighttime identity.

A layered approach balances functional illumination with architectural highlighting—ensuring safety, clarity, and visual comfort for staff and visitors, while reinforcing the building’s role within the urban fabric. Subtle, warm-toned lighting softens the robustness of the materials, contributing to a welcoming civic environment without compromising the institutional character.

The result is a refined, energy-efficient lighting scheme that enhances legibility, supports operations, and elevates the building’s presence after dark.
